“Saturdays with Linda”: A Comedy Where a Delusional Actor/ Improviser in Chicago Examines Her Life while Facing Death

Chicago, IL July 29, 2019 – Opening Sunday, August 25th, “Saturdays With Linda” will start a 5-week run at iO Chicago.   “Saturdays with Linda” is a comedy show and an intimate look at an actor’s hopes and dreams.

Linda is a blossoming actor and improviser in Chicago that is “getting really good at her craft”.  After 20 years of exhausting many efforts to become famous, she turns to YouTube in the hopes of achieving self-made stardom with her weekly show, Saturdays with Linda, where she gives advice to fledgling actors.  While filming, Linda is diagnosed with cancer.  The result is a hilarious look into the mind of a delusional woman who must come to grips with her lack of talent, her artistic limitations, and the realization that she will never become a leading lady.

Created by Linda Orr and Tony Mendoza, this show blends Linda’s “real-time” made-with-a-selfie-stick home videos while recovering from chemo with live commentary from her alter-ego, also known as Linda Orr, who, too, has struggled for 20 years to achieve success and was also diagnosed with cancer in December.  Sidekick Tony Mendoza will be contributing color and quips with Linda on stage.

Linda and Tony have been performing their unique brand of performance art and digital media for four years around Chicago and have developed a cult following.  They are currently working on launching their YouTube channel, A Complete Waste of Your Time and Money (aCWoYT&$).

Saturdays with Linda press and industry opening is at iO Chicago on Sunday, August 25th at 8pm in the Chris Farley Cabaret.  It runs for 5 weeks through the end of September.  Tickets are $14 (FREE for iO students and performers).  Tickets can be purchased via box office or online at www.ioimprov.com/chicago..
